Royal Philips Electronics of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, has allied with Traxtal Inc. of Toronto to deliver integrated soft tissue therapeutic and diagnostic products. Traxtal specializes in computer-assisted soft tissue navigation technologies, including the PercuNav system, which helps physicians guide minimally invasive devices such as needles and probes into the body via electromagnetic tracking technology. It provides 3-D visualization, showing the tool position superimposed on the patient’s medical images and providing multimodality image fusion of ultrasound, CT and MR images in real time during the procedure.
