DRESDEN, Germany, April 21, 2017 — The spring meeting of the Society for Information Display (SID), organized by the Fraunhofer Institute for Organic Electronics, Electron Beam and Plasma Technology, welcomed 100 participants from 18 countries for a conference focused on wearables and projection displays.

About 100 participants from 18 countries travelled to Dresden to gain insight and information on research and developments in the display sector. More than 20 speakers from companies like Microsoft and Kopin, higher education institutions such as Cambridge University, the University of Strathclyde and the Dresden University of Technology and organizations like the European Commission gave presentations on a variety of technologies such as virtual reality, wearables and displays.

Other highlights included the Best Student Award, which was given to a Dresden student. The conference also featured a networking dinner event at the historic city center of Dresden. In front of the impressively illuminated Dresden Zwinger with an personalized laser show the participants were establishing new contacts and discussing latest developments of the display sector. Scientists are currently developing OLEDs and OLED microdisplays based on organic semiconductors, which could be integrated in a wide range of applications.
