Sorrento and Marubeni Deploy Metro DWDM Ring in Japan
Mar 2002
SAN DIEGO and TOKYO, March 18 -- Sorrento Networks, supplier of end-to-end, intelligent optical networking solutions for metro and regional applications, and Marubeni Network Systems (MNET), a Japanese network and systems integrator, have announced the deployment of a demonstration GigaMux metro DWDM system in a ring configuration in Japan.

MNET partners Toyo Communication (MNET's choice for field service and support) and Global Access (a Type 1 carrier that provided the fiber network) also contributed their resources to plan, deploy, manage and support the network.

"This live system implementation is an important milestone toward penetrating the Japanese market," said Demetri Elias, vice president/marketing at Sorrento Networks. "MNET has exhibited vision, perseverance and keen business sense in showcasing to Japan the advantages of Metro DWDM rings."
