Source Photonics Ships 10,000th Module

WEST HILLS, Calif., Jan. 25, 2016 — Data technology company Source Photonics Inc. said it has shipped its 10,000th single-mode, 100-G QSFP28 optical transceiver module.

The company began production shipments of its 10-km QSFP28 LR4 and 2-km QSFP28 LR4-Lite modules in the first quarter of 2015 after an introduction and sampling program with several customers in 2014. Major applications for this technology include cloud scale and Web 2.0 data centers worldwide, representing the first single-mode 100-G modules deployed in data centers and signifying the beginning of a transition from a 10/40G data center architecture to a 25/100G architecture.

“Potential market opportunity for 100G optics in mega data centers has been making headlines over the last three years, attracting many new suppliers and technologies,” said Vladimir Kozlov, CEO and founder of LightCounting Market Research. “The early shipments data from Source Photonics clearly shows that this opportunity is real. We expect that shipments of these products will exceed 100,000 units in the first six to nine months of 2016.”
