Spectral Molecular Imaging Hires Bearman as Chief Scientist

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., July 15, 2010 — Spectral Molecular Imaging, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cascade Technologies Inc., announced the appointment of Gregory Bearman, PhD, to the position of chief scientist.

In his new position, Bearman will guide development of a range of imaging devices for the earlier detection of cancer and other major diseases, based on the company’s proprietary optical imaging technologies.

With training in atomic physics, Bearman worked for nearly 30 years at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif., where he served as a principal scientist. There he managed a group that developed new technologies and instruments for remote sensing and planetary surface exploration, with an emphasis on developing new sensors and spectral imagers.

In addition to working at NASA, he has started two companies and has consulted for numerous businesses. His recent biomedical research includes clinical applications of retinal imaging spectroscopy in collaboration with Doheny Eye Institute and USC Keck School of Medicine.

The medical imaging device company’s proprietary technology is being applied in the development of a range of medical imaging products that could enable earlier, more accurate detection and diagnosis of skin cancers and other diseases.
