Spectrum Detector Launched

Photonics Spectra
Feb 2007
Don Dooley, founder of Scientific Spectrum Inc. and Molectron Detector Inc., has formed Spectrum Detector Inc. in Lake Oswego, Ore. The new company will design and manufacture high-performance radiometric detectors and instruments that cover the electromagnetic spectrum from 0.1 to 1000 μm.

Dooley will be joined by Mark Stout, former senior product manager at Molectron, who will be a partial owner and manufacturing manager. The men are currently designing instruments including silicon, germanium and thin-film thermopile sensors.

The technology of generating and harnessing light and other forms of radiant energy whose quantum unit is the photon. The science includes light emission, transmission, deflection, amplification and detection by optical components and instruments, lasers and other light sources, fiber optics, electro-optical instrumentation, related hardware and electronics, and sophisticated systems. The range of applications of photonics extends from energy generation to detection to communications and...
