Student Chapters Gain Support
Coherent Inc. of Santa Clara, Calif.,
and the OSA Foundation have announced the student chapters that will participate
in the foundation’s new Adopt a Student Chapter Program. On behalf of Coherent,
the program will provide financial sponsorship to the chapters to assist them in
holding academic and professional networking activities. Leadership travel and traveling
lecturer grants will be given. The 2011 Coherent-sponsored OSA student chapters
are as follows: Universidade Federal de Pernambuco and Universidade Federal de Alagoas,
both of Brazil; Tsinghua University and Zhejiang University, both of China; and
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Delhi) and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT
Madras), both of India. Based in Washington, the OSA Foundation supports philanthropic
activities of the Optical Society of America.
