Teligent to Test AirFiber's High-Bandwidth Wireless Optical Network

SAN DIEGO, June 21 -- Teligent will assess the equipment used in AirFiber Inc.'s new OptiMesh network. The network, which is based on wireless optical networking technology, will bring carrier grade, high-bandwidth services to customers in a campus setting, said AirFiber.
This product trial with Teligent demonstrates that wireless optical networking is an important tool in a local exchange carrier's high-bandwidth tool kit that is complementary to the other last mile technologies carriers use today, said Jim Dunn, CEO of AirFiber.
The OptiMesh network is capable of delivering high-bandwidth over the air by using invisible beams of light that are not harmful to the eye, AirFiber said.
