Miniaturization technologies distributor Tessera Technologies Inc. has announced that it has shipped more than 1 million OptiML single-element video graphics array (VGA) lenses through its product launch services.

Introduced in September 2008, the services were set up to provide licensees and their customers with early access to the company’s technology. Licensees of its OptiML wafer-level optics include Nemotek SA of Sala Al Jadida, Morocco, and Q Technology Ltd. of Jiangsu Province, China.

The single-element VGA lenses utilize standard reflow processes, sustain high-temperature soldering and come in custom formats. The camera solution is suitable for cell phones, security cameras, PCs, gaming consoles and webcams used for video conferencing.
