United Industrial Corp. reports that its AAI Corp. Defense Systems subsidiary has received an order from the US Air Force for four Advanced Boresight Equipment (ABE) systems. According to United Industrial, AAI's gyro-stabilized, electro-optical ABE boresighting technology provides increased accuracy, reduced maintenance, and lower operating costs.

The order represents the first Air Force purchase of the ABE technology. The contract, valued at $2,210,000, is being procured through the US Navy under an inter-service arrangement. When combined with a previous Navy order, the total contract value to date for the ABE systems is $4,568,000.
