Ubicept Raises $8M in Seed Round

Computer vision technology company Ubicept secured $8 million in a seed investment round to expand its team, secure further intellectual property rights, and provide product to more customers across several industries.

Ubicept’s technology uses single-photon sensors to turn the individual photons that hit an imaging sensor into a reliable computer vision output, according to the company. The resulting perception system can operate in extreme lighting conditions, capture sharp images of high-speed motion, and “see” around corners. The company said that it is targeting a price point similar to conventional camera systems.

Ubicept was founded in 2021 as a spinout from the MIT Media Lab. Earlier this year, the company brought to market its debut product kit, which features a complete perception system that the company said will enable robust vision for industries such as aviation, automotive, trucking, specialty vehicles, and robotics.
