VISION Show to Highlight Embedded Vision, Hyperspectral Imaging

The 31st biannual VISION conference returns to the Stuttgart Trade Fair Center in Stuttgart, Germany, Oct. 8 to 10. The trade fair includes industry veterans and exhibitors across several sectors demonstrating products, technologies, and the latest innovations in embedded vision, hyperspectral imaging, AI, and deep learning.

“We have surpassed the number of exhibitors of 2022 and can count more than 425 exhibiting companies today,” said Florian Niethammer, head of trade fairs and events at Messe Stuttgart.

Niethammer said that despite recent challenges in the machine vision industry, the conference will reflect positive developments; he anticipates the number of exhibitors to increase by 10% compared to the most recent fair.

The event will consist of a multitude of “theme parks,” guided tours, lecture forums, and special events, culminating with the industry-wide recognized VISION Award. The award honors the best, judge-picked innovation from the field of machine vision and comes with a €3000 ($3253) grand prize.

The judging panel includes machine vision developers and investors, such as Jens Michael Carstensen, CEO of Videometer A/S; Michael Engel, founder of Vision Components GmbH; and Gabriele Jansen, managing director at Vision Ventures.


The five “theme parks” included in this year’s VISION conference include the VISION Integration Area, SpectroNet joint stand, the VDMA Technology Days, during which young companies and research projects present, as well as IPC 4 VISION and VISION Start-up World.

IPC 4 VISION will showcase developments in the field of industrial PCs and image processing, while VISION Start-up World returns with 20 early-stage companies from areas such as image processing and computer vision. The start-ups can apply to perform daily pitches on the mainstage of the Industrial VISION Days forum to win a VISION Start-up of the Day award. At the end of the show, the VISION Start-up 2024 is awarded.

Guided tours and lectures

The guided tours will discuss the latest trends of machine vision for the logistics, food and beverages, electronics, and semiconductors industries and will include crash courses in machine vision as well as time to visit the main conference following the tours. Set on the first, second, and third day of the conference, respectively, each tour will be guided by Ronald Müller, CEO and founder of Vision Markets.

For those seeking to learn more about the field of machine vision, VISION 2024 is holding its VISION Days lecture forums. Organized by VDMA Machine Vision and Austrian Institute of Technology, the forums’ Industrial VISION Days and Scientific VISION Days are a lecture series during which attendees can learn about visionary topics from the machine vision industry as well as from experts in the science and applied research industry. This year’s topics for Scientific VISION Days are 3D vision, high-speed imaging, in-line computational imaging, deep learning, and the testing of machine vision systems.
