FT. COLLINS, Colo., April 28 -- Veeco Instruments Inc. reported that its Ion Tech Inc. subsidiary has received orders worth $5 million from US- and Asian-based manufacturers of dense wavelength division multiplexing filters for multiple units of the company's Spector optical coating ion beam deposition systems. Veeco has scheduled deliveries for these orders, which were booked in the current quarter, to take place over the next year.
Gerald Isaacson, Ion Tech's president, stated, We are pleased to report the receipt of these latest orders, one from an existing customer and one from a new customer. We continue to provide ion beam deposition equipment and process support for the industry's transition to new 200-GHz and 100-GHz filters.
Ed Braun, Veeco Instruments' chairman, president and CEO, added, Veeco and Ion Tech are presently ramping manufacturing capacity as quickly as possible in response to the strong market demand for SPECTOR systems, evidenced by Ion Tech's $19.4-million first quarter bookings. We are currently doubling Ion Tech's Colorado facilities from approximately 35,000 to 70,000 sq. ft., and will begin producing Spector systems in our Plainview, N.Y., process equipment facility during the third quarter.
