Vieworks Using Framos IP Core for Machine Vision

ANYANG, Korea, Sept. 21, 2018 — X-ray medical imaging device developer Vieworks Co. Ltd. has built upon the FRAMOS IP core to connect Sony sensors to Xilinx field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) for the machine vision market in Asia.

Vieworks serves doctors, health professionals, and patients with quality diagnostic images, focused on innovative alternative signal processing technologies. These technologies enable the delivery of advanced imaging solutions, ease of operation, and simple installation. The in-house R&D team uses Sony’s third-generation CMOS sensors and the Xilinx platform, which are both connected by the FRAMOS SLVS-EC RX IP core for Kintex-7.

“In order to take full advantage of the outstanding performance of Sony’s latest CMOS sensors with the SLVS-EC interface as well as Xilinx FPGAs and SoCs, we had only two options: develop a dedicated interface by ourselves or use the FRAMOS IP core,” said Ryan Kyung, head of sales and marketing at Vieworks. “We have chosen FRAMOS’s IP core because it provides a faster speed interface, thanks to its flexible and configurable lanes support, which is especially critical for designing ultra-high-resolution cameras.”

FRAMOS has distributed and supported Sony sensors for 36 years, and is an official Xilinx partner.
