SAARBRÜCKEN, Germany, Sept. 17, 2025 — SurFunction GmbH, a laser-based surface enhancement company, appointed Alexander Hornung chief sales officer and Daniel Müller CTO. Hornung has more than 15 years of international experience in technology development, business development, and strategic leadership. Prior to his promotion to CTO, Müller served as technical director at SurFunction for several years.

WOKING, England — Vision Engineering Ltd., which specializes in the manufacturing of inspection microscopy and digital 3D visualization technology, appointed Shaun Maxfield regional sales manager for the northern U.K. and Ireland.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Lightwave Logic, Inc., a provider of high-performance electro-optic polymer materials, appointed Lance Thompson vice president of engineering. Thompson replaces interim vice president of engineering Siraj Nour El-Ahmadi, who will remain on the board of directors. Thompson recently served at Coherent as the director of datacom transceivers, where he architected and created the first transceiver modules for 200 Gbps per lane applications. He previously was the director of transceiver product development at Kaiam Corporation and a senior director of product development at Sumitomo Electric Device Innovations. In his current role, Thompson will advance the technical attributes of Lightwave Logic’s Perkinamine polymer, enhancing the back-end-of-line process design kit, interfacing with silicon photonics foundries and assembly houses to prepare for the production ramp, and working alongside customers to facilitate integration and commercialization of Lightwave Logic's polymer platform.

PLANO, Texas — Communications technology and IP optical networking solutions company Ribbon Technology appointed Steve McCafferty executive vice president of global sales. McCaffery held senior roles at major corporations, including Halo Technology, Motorola, Google, and ARRIS. He previously served as head of APAC and EMEA sales at Ribbon from 2021 to 2023. McCaffery succeeds Dan Redington, who will be leaving Ribbon.

Granit is an entrepreneur, investor, and corporate lawyer with expertise across capital markets, advanced manufacturing, defense, and strategic governance. His appointment serves to help the company navigate global capital markets, expand its presence in the U.S. defense, quantum, and aerospace sectors, and advance the company’s commercialization roadmap.

TORONTO — Kepler Communications, a satellite telecommunications provider, announced that Beau Jarvis has joined as chief revenue officer. Jarvis will lead commercial strategy, market adoption of its optical data relay network, and drive revenue in government, commercial, and international sectors. Javis has played a key role in driving early-stage revenue and securing significant venture capital support across multiple high-growth startups. He previously served as vice president of international sales at Planet Labs, where he scaled the company internationally and increased commercial revenue. He most recently was the CEO at Phase Four, where he led the company from seed to series B, delivered multiple generations of electric propulsion systems to orbit, and secured contracts with both the U.S. government and commercial satellite operators.
