Wenglor Acquires AI, Image Processing Startup deevio

Photoelectronic sensors and machine vision cameras developer wenglor sensoric group acquired the AI and image processing startup deevio GmbH. The acquisition opens opportunities for future innovations in machine vision, wenglor said, and boosts its capabilities in AI and data science.

Spun out of the the Viessmann Group’s wattx incubator, Berlin-based software developer deevio specializes in the automation of visual inspection processes in production. Combining AI, software, and hardware, the company’s image processing systems provide solutions for complex production applications that cannot be solved with rule-based image processing. Christian Vollrath, head of computer vision at wenglor, will serve as general manager at deevio, per the deal. Current deevio CEO and co-founder Damian Heimel will stay on with the company for a period of six months, and company co-founder Tassilo Glander will continue to manage deevio’s tech team.
