ZEPHYR COVE, Nev., May 18, 2012 — Zephyr Photonics has announced its accreditation as a Category 1A Trusted Source by the Defense Microelectronics Activity (DMEA), the highest designation awarded by the Department of Defense (DoD).

The certification recognizes the company as a trusted supplier of foundry microelectronics goods and services to the DoD and other end users within the US government. Achieving this status assures the DoD and prospective defense customers that the company’s solutions meet the highest standards of control and security.

“Receiving this accreditation is a major victory for our company as we continue to develop and introduce new products to the market,” said president and CEO Tom Steding. “We have served the defense community for more than 25 years, and we are honored to be one of the few companies to have received the Trusted Accreditation.”

The Trusted Foundry program was established to support the DoD’s need for manufacturing partners that produce reliable, secure solutions for global programs and operations, Steding said.
