Zygo Plans to Acquire Firefly

Zygo Corp. of Middlefield, Conn., has announced plans to acquire Firefly Technologies Inc. of Holliston, Mass. The transaction, which is valued at approximately $100 million in Zygo common stock, would make Firefly a wholly owned subsidiary of Zygo and create a division to be named Zygo TeraOptix.

Firefly manufactures metrology systems, heads and related components for the optical storage industry, as well as micro-optics, switches and filters for use in wavelength division multiplexing applications in telecommunications. Zygo designs and markets measurement and yield-improvement instrumentation, optical components and assemblies, and automation systems.
