GAMDAN Optics offers large quantity z-cut BBO crystals for use in BBO Pockels Cells. BBO is a popular nonlinear optical crystal for frequency conversion. BBO has also been used as electro-optic (E-O) Q-Switch material.
BBO is a good material for use as an E-O Q-Switch for Er:Glass lasers because of its low insertion losses at 1.54µm and its high laser damage threshold (5GW/cm2, 10 ns).
As an added benefit, BBO does not exhibit a piezoelectric effect. All these advantages make BBO an attractive E-O Q-switch material for high peak and high average power applications.
