MidOpt Protective Windows can undergo a chemical strengthening process that significantly enhances their durability and impact resistance. Through an ion-exchange method, smaller sodium ions in the glass surface are replaced with larger potassium ions, creating a deep layer of compressive stress. This process makes the glass up to five times stronger than untreated glass and far more resistant to scratching, cracking and thermal shock. Chemical strengthening ensures MidOpt windows maintain optical clarity, surface integrity and long-term performance – even in demanding industrial, medical, and outdoor imaging environments.
