The AV-2500 XY Flat-Top Extended Travel Stage from Applied Scientific Instrumentation Inc. is designed to fit the Zeiss Axio Observer microscope.
The stage travels 250 mm in the X axis and 110 mm in the Y axis. The AV-2500 accepts either 160- × 110-mm or 283- × 110-mm stages inserts. It also offers encoder resolution of 22 nm and speeds up to 7 mm/s with standard leadscrew. The stage typical repeatability is <700-nm rms. When paired with a linear encoder, repeatability is <300-nm rms.
By using closed-loop control of the stage position, the AV-2500 will not become lost, as can occur with open-loop microstepped stages after a number of moves and direction changes. The stage utilizes crossed-roller slides, a high-precision leadscrew, and zero-backlash miniature geared direct current servomotors for smooth and accurate motion.
