Gold, Solderable, and Face Metallization Optical Components
Deposition Sciences, Inc. (DSI
®) a wholly owned subsidiary of Lockheed Martin, provides solderable thin-film coatings, including gold coatings and other face metallization optical coatings on wafers. The face metallization and solderable coatings are typically used for hermetic sealing of sensitive packages. These coatings can be patterned at wafer scale (up to 200 mm diameter), making them compatible with various wafer-level packaging operations that are currently employed.
Silicon is the most frequently used substrate, although our coatings can be applied to virtually all commonly-used materials. DSI’s thin-film coating capabilities are enabled by the company’s proprietary sputtering deposition technology. The new optical coatings can be combined with anti-reflective (AR), bandpass, or precision custom coatings from the ultraviolet (UV), to near infrared (NIR) through the midwave IR, out to the longwave infrared (LWIR) wavelengths. Popular applications include infrared detectors, cameras, focal plane arrays, and other sealed sensors and/or detectors.
DSI also offers custom coatings for one-of-a-kind specialty instruments, and can deliver high-volume wafer-scale coatings for a wide range of consumer and military applications. The company’s unique, ultra-durable, zero-shift optical coatings are MIL-Spec tested for humidity, salt fog, abrasion, temperature cycle, adhesion, solubility, and more.
