Spatial Light ModulatorA liquid-crystal spatial light modulator (SLM) from Hamamatsu Photonics is designed for high-power industrial pulsed laser systems to achieve high-throughput, high-precision laser processing to processing resistant materials.

The device features high pulse laser power capability of up to 400 GW/cm2 by utilizing advanced thin-film and circuit designing technologies. The SLM can freely control the irradiation pattern of lasers and is utilized in manufacturing and fabrication techniques that use artificial intelligence. Using a higher power pulsed laser allows simultaneous irradiation of a target sample with multi-beams while maintaining adequate output power.

High-throughput and high precision laser processing is achieved for resistant materials like carbon fiber reinforced plastic used for aircraft and transportation equipment, as well as low-k materials used for fifth-generation mobile communication systems.
