Custom Domes for Thermal Imaging

Photonics MarketplaceCustom Domes for Thermal Imaging Knight Optical offers custom made domes made from IR materials for thermal imaging applications. A dome is essentially a window that has two parallel curves faces. Our domes are high quality with good form error polished faces to ensure high clarity and transmission in the Visible (400to 700nm), NIR (700nm to 1.2µm), Mid-IR (3 to 5µm), and Far-IR (8 to 30µm+) spectrums allowing for accurate measurement. Suitable IR optical materials are chosen to optimise the design and to meet any reasonable specification.

Capabilities:
   •  Domes are readily mountable, optically clear and manufactured to a high standard.
   •   Available from 5mm to 200mm in diameter and 0.25 to 10mm in thickness offering high transmission and extreme toughness for harsh environments where the material allows.

Typical materials: As well as fused silica, domes can be made in any of the additional materials:
   •  Germanium
   •  Silicon
   •  Zinc Sulphide
   •  Spinel
   •  BK7
   •  PMMA Acrylic
   •  Quartz
   •  Sapphire

All our domes are checked for quality in our state-of-the-art Metrology laboratory using equipment from Trioptics, Varian and Starret allowing us to work to the highest QA standards and meet the tolerance specifications on these precision components.
