Online Web Optics Software Launched

Online web optics software launchedLaser Quantum has recently launched a free online version of vChirp, a software developed in coordination with Prof. Uwe Morgner’s group at the Institute of Quantum Optics at Leibniz Universität Hannover. This user-friendly software, designed with an easy drag and drop handling of desired components, has been set up for you to calculate the dispersion characteristics of a femtosecond laser pulse propagating through various media and elements. It features dispersion and pulse compression calculations for designing ultrafast experiments and provides information on the best method to obtain a re-compressed pulse. In addition to this, it allows the generation of Gaussian spectra and the ability to plot overall dispersion curves (sum) and theoretical achievable pulse durations. vChirp is most suited to ultrabroadband femtosecond lasers and can now be accessed as an online tool, available for trial on the Laser Quantum website.

vChirp supports many optical elements, such as dispersion compensating mirror pairs, glass wedges for dispersion fine tuning, grating compressors, and template pulses like Gaussian or rectangular pulses. Using vChirp you can tweak your ultrafast experiment for optimal pulse recompression to acquire the best data. The full version allows even more optical elements, including simple file input function for loading user spectra, loading SPIDER data, and whole configuration save functions.

vChirp has numerous features including a huge material database to select the dispersion characteristics and a wide range of glass materials such as BK7, Fused Silica, BaF2 and CaF2. It also features the dispersion characteristics of our various DCM dispersion compensating mirrors, including the illustration of the GDD of the selected component.
