Light Engine Stability and Longevity

Author: Iain Johnson, Ph.D., Jasmin Schaefer, Claudia Jaffe, Ph.D. Monday, May 11, 2020
Operational lifetimes of solid-state light sources ranging from 10,000–20,000 hours are often cited. These estimates are often derived for single light emitting diodes (LEDs) and are not representative of sophisticated, integrated light engines in typical working laboratory environments. This white paper provides operating lifetimes, cost considerations and stability data for Lumencor’s solid-state light engines based on service history data.
