PI Alignment System Named R&D 100 Finalist

AUBURN, Mass., Sept. 13, 2016 — The FMPA Fast Multichannel Photonics Alignment Engine advanced alignment system from Physik Instrumente (PI) LP is a 2016 R&D 100 Awards Finalist, selected by a group of R&D Magazine’s judges. The awards honor the most innovative technologies. Now in its 54th year, winners of the award will be announced on November 3.

The FMPA is based on a highly specialized digital motion controller with embedded advanced alignment and tracking functionality and a hybrid precision scanning and tracking mechanism combining the advantages of piezoelectric on servo-motorized drives.

PI is a manufacturer of precision motion control equipment, piezo motors, air bearing stages and hexapod parallel-kinematics for semiconductor applications, photonics, bio-nano-technology and medical engineering.
