AUBURN, Mass., May 7, 2015 — PI V-273PI (Physik Instrumente) LP has announced a new series of actuators based on PIMag noncontacting voice-coil linear motor technology.

Suited for OEM and industrial applications with high throughput requirements, the V-273 automation actuator comes with a controller that reads the actuator's force and position sensors in parallel and switches from closed-loop force control to position control, and vice versa. Offering force resolutions to the millinewton range and 100-nm linear encoder resolution, the mechanism provides smooth action transitions.

The position sensor resolution is below 1 nm. Vacuum capability and motion ranges from 7.5 mm to 26 mm are standard. The step size and frequency are variable, enabling users to control speed and positioning resolution. PiezoMike products facilitate the automated adjustment of the device's mechanical and optomechanical components.
