Germanium Windows
Germanium optical window has good transmittance in the uncoated part of 2 to 16 μ m, and has very low peak absorption. Therefore, germanium is an excellent candidate material for carbon dioxide laser cavity. In the whole visible spectrum, germanium also has strong opacity, which makes the window very suitable for applications that only need to transmit in IR wavelength.
