Stellar Industries is a custom metallized ceramic manufacturer specializing in thin film, thick film, direct bond copper, direct plated copper, AuSn solder deposition, and machined ceramics. Certifications include AS9100, RoHS, ITAR, and REACH.

Direct Bond Copper
Stellar Industries Corp. is the only U.S. manufacturer of Direct Bond Copper (DBC) on Alumina, Aluminum Nitride, Beryllium Oxide or Sapphire. We offer a variety of copper/ceramic thickness combinations. We also offer custom plating schemes tailored for your application.

Stellar offers a proprietary pure copper thru-hole via technology to help unlock ultrahigh current/high heat applications. In addition, Stellar manufactures flying leaded substrates, integrating the patterned design directly to leads with no solder/braze joint. We also produce Thin DBC metalization, down to 0.002”, that can be combined with our in-house Au/Sn metalization and a critical diced edge for laser submount applications.

Thin Film Metalization
We offer high-performance, high-purity vapor-deposited thin film metalizations on Alumina, Beryllium Oxide, Aluminum Nitride, and specialty ceramics. Lift-off techniques, as well as chemical etching and ion beam photo-patterning processes, allow us to customize these substrates to your design requirements. Our thin film process is a perfect match for the laser diode, semiconductor, microwave, and biomedical industries.

Thick Film Metalization
Stellar Industries has multiple screen printers and a precision vision system to provide you with high-quality, high-volume thick film metalized substrates and sub-mounts. Thick film metals are a low-cost solution to your patterned metalization needs.

Precision Machined Ceramics
Stellar Industries has over three decades of ceramic machining experience. We specialize in high-thermal conductivity ceramics with a precise eye for quality, fine detail and exacting tolerances. Whether you are looking for raw ceramics or complex metalized ceramic components, Stellar can meet your machining needs:
  • Lapping
    Stellar has multiple surface lapping machines to achieve your thickness tolerance, surface finish, and flatness requirements. Our precisely lapped surfaces are ideal for top quality metallization adhesion. If you have special aerospace requirements, try our industry-leading silicone and carbide-free processing.  

  • Polishing: When a lapped surface finish is not fine enough, Stellar also offers proprietary polishing solutions to meet your custom needs. Our polished surfaces offer a lustrous finish perfect for thin film metallization adhesion.

  • Diamond Dicing
    Multiple dicing saws enable Stellar to offer you a complete package from multi-up patterned metalized subs to completed singulated parts. Offering tight tolerances and quality edge finishes, our precisely diced-and-cleaned parts will exceed your processing needs.

  • Precision Grinding: Whether you require accurate angles, precision chamfers or custom shapes, we can meet your ground ceramic requirements.

  • Laser Machining, Drilling, Scribing
    Do you prefer to have your parts laser-machined complete? Do you want laser thru-holes or custom laser features? Stellar offers them all. Laser scribe and snapping is a lower cost alternative to more expensive singulation options on those parts that do not need such a precise edge finish and tolerance.  

  • Clean Air Firing and Annealing:
    Stellar has multiple high-temperature furnaces to get your ceramics clean and annealed after machining. Machining ceramics may leave a damaged grain structure with micro-cracks that can only be repaired through high-temperature annealing.

  • Cooling Solutions:
    Copper and Direct Bond Copper Micro-Channel Cooler (MCC) - Stellar’s cooling solution micro-channel coolers deliver optimal cooling performance for pump modules that are used in high power solid-state lasers.
