Coherent Inc. has announced the Gem-30 CO2 laser, which provides more than 30 W of output power at 10.55 to 10.63 µm with a >98% TEM00 spatial mode and M2 <1.2 beam quality. Suitable for marking, engraving and desktop manufacturing applications, the laser comes in a compact package that houses the power supply RF driver and the laser head. The air- and liquid-cooled models have footprints measuring 14.06 x 3.64 x 5.49 in. and 14.06 x 3.64 x 3.65 in., respectively. The Gem-30 offers a rise time of <60 µs, runs on 48 VDC and has an RJ-45 Ethernet connector.
