For over forty years ULC has been providing high-quality Thin Film Coatings for the photonics industry. We use a robotic multi-station aqueous ultrasonic system with 18 meg. ohm deionized water to prep the optics for coating. The advanced ultrasonic cleaning system provides substrate surface quality with very uniform and repeatable results. The optics are loaded into the planetary fixtures on class 100 flow benches in a class 10,000 cleanroom.
The optics, ranging in size from 1/4” to 23” are coated in cryogenically pumped, computer-controlled chambers ranging from 45” to 72”. Each chamber provides planetary rotation and uniformity masking, crystal and optical monitoring, resistive and electron beam sources, ion sources (for prep and IAD), meissner coil, quartz heating and dry nitrogen venting.
We utilize a P&E Lambda 950, 2 P&E Lambda 1050s and a P&E Spectrum BX spectrophotometer to verify each coating run for spectral performance.
Our in house environmental testing capability includes 2 CSZ High-Low temperature and humidity chambers and an Ascott Salt Fog chamber.
We offer these popular coatings: magnesium fluoride (248nm – 3.3μm), bare and protected aluminum, silver and gold (248nm - 20μm), Enhanced aluminum (400nm – 700nm), single wavelength multilayer (248nm – 3.3μm), broad band anti-reflection (several bands over the 248nm – 2000nm range), metal and dielectric beam splitters (several bands over the 248nm – 2000nm range), Brewster polarizers (900nm – 2000nm), dielectric mirrors (several bands over the 248nm – 2000nm range), high laser damage threshold anti-reflection and mirrors (248nm – 1550nm).
