Growth Spurs HQ Move, New Hires at Bristol Instruments

Oct 2013VICTOR, N.Y., Oct. 14, 2013 — Growing business in the scientific research, fiber communications and optical metrology markets spurred Bristol Instruments to move its headquarters this past spring, as well as to hire a new chief financial officer and business development manager for its Optical Metrology products group.

The optical interferometer-based instrumentation maker moved its headquarters to a 5000-sq-ft facility at 50 Victor Heights Parkway in May. The move more than doubles its manufacturing space to meet increasing product demand, the company said, adding that the larger laboratory space will also accelerate new product development.

“Our new facility will not only help us satisfy the manufacturing needs for our wavelength meter and spectrum analyzer products,” said vice president of operations John Theodorsen, “it will also ensure the efficient roll out of new products, such as the 157 series optical thickness gauge that was introduced at Photonics West in February.”

The company has also added to its management staff this year, announcing the hiring of Jeffrey Kondziela as business development manager of its Optical Metrology Products Group in March and Peter Battisti as CFO in April.

Prior to joining Bristol Instruments, Kondziela worked in the sales and marketing of technical products such as remote visual inspection equipment, lasers, and laser measurement systems for companies such as Coherent, EXFO, Burleigh Instruments and Welch Allyn’s Everest Imaging Group. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Optical Engineering from the Institute of Optics at the University of Rochester, and a Master of Business Administration with concentrations in Finance and Marketing from Syracuse University.

For almost 20 years, Battisti was the CFO at Burleigh Instruments, and then at EXFO Burleigh Products Group, where he was responsible for facilities operation and expansion, human resources, information technology operations, and all facets of internal financial reporting.
