Light GuidesCustom precision Light Guides from Knight Optical LLC are designed as the key element in cosmetic laser or intense pulsed light (IPL) applications.

IPL applications make use of a variety of wavebands to target different chromophores in cosmetic applications, commonly used for the removal of unwanted hair. The custom light guides are available in a choice of materials and coatings to suit waveband requirements. BK7 or equivalent light guides offer high internal reflection to minimize the loss of transmitted light and provide more than 90 percent transmission between 330 and 2000 nm, making it an ideal choice for pigmentation applications.

The custom UV-fused silica light guides also provide more than 90 percent transmission at 335 nm and work efficiently down to 185 nm, making them an excellent alternative to BK7 or equivalent for pigmentation treatment. In addition, custom fused silica light guides offer high thermal conductivity and an increased laser damage threshold.
