Concave and convex spherical mirrors are types of curved mirrors that have surfaces shaped like segments of spheres. These mirrors are commonly used in optics for various applications, including imaging, focusing, and magnification.

Concave spherical mirror: A concave spherical mirror has a reflective surface that curves inward, resembling the inner surface of a hollow sphere. The reflective surface of a concave mirror is polished on the inner side, forming a concave shape that causes light rays to converge towards a focal point.  When parallel rays of light strike a concave mirror, they are reflected inward and converge at a point known as the focal point. Concave mirrors are commonly used in applications such as focusing light in optical instruments like telescopes, microscopes, and headlights, as well as in makeup mirrors and shaving mirrors to produce magnified virtual images.

Convex spherical mirror: A convex spherical mirror has a reflective surface that curves outward, resembling the outer surface of a sphere. The reflective surface of a convex mirror is polished on the outer side, forming a convex shape that causes light rays to diverge away from a focal point.  When parallel rays of light strike a convex mirror, they are reflected outward and diverge away from each other. Convex mirrors are commonly used in applications such as security mirrors (e.g., in stores and parking lots) to provide a wide field of view, in automotive side mirrors to provide a broader field of vision, and in magnifying glasses to produce reduced, virtual images.
