lambertian surface

A perfectly diffusing surface; the intensity of the light emanating in a given direction from any small surface component is proportional to the cosine of the angle of the normal to the surface. The brightness (luminance, radiance) of a lambertian surface is constant regardless of the angle from which it is viewed.
