luminescent greenhouse collector: A collector for photovoltaic power generation that consists of a thin plate that strongly absorbs sunlight striking its faces and luminesces efficiently. A large fraction of the luminescence is trapped by total internal reflection at the plate faces. If the trapped light is not absorbed and lost as heat, it can be collected at the edges with a substantial gain in photon flux density.
