multianode microchannel array detector

A photon-counting instrument for use in both space-borne and ground-based photometric and spectroscopic instrumentation. This style of detector is composed of opaque photocathodes for photon to electron conversion, feedback-free microchannel plates for signal amplification, and proximity-focused multianode readout arrays for position sensitivity and multilayer ceramic headers. The multianode microchannel array (MAMA) detector is specifically designed for applications that involve low-light level imaging and spectroscopy at ultraviolet wavelengths.
