telecentric lens

There are three types of telecentric lenses:

-Image-space telecentric lenses are those in which the aperture stop is located at the front focus, resulting in the chief rays being parallel to the optical axis in image space; i.e., the exit pupil is at infinity, as in the diagram below.

 

 -Object-space telecentric lenses have their aperture stops at the back focus, resulting in the chief rays being parallel to the optical axis in object space; i.e., the entrance pupil is at infinity.

-Bi-telecentric lenses have both the entrance and exit pupils at infinity, which means the chief rays are essentially parallel to the optical axis in both object and image space.
