About This Webinar

This is not your parents' manufacturing world, so training shouldn't be old-school either. Demands in the digital factory for a "New Collar Workforce" require innovative programs that are skill-specific and meet the needs of today's employers.

In this webinar, Sarah Boisvert, the founder of Fab Lab Hub and author of The New Collar Workforce, will report on the feedback she gathered from 200 manufacturers on digital fabrication job skills needed in manufacturing. Her findings lead directly back to new, ground-breaking training programs that include digital badges to demonstrate hands-on experience with tools like 3D printers, CAD software, and laser machine tools.

About the presenter:
Sarah Boisvert has more than 30 years of experience in the design, development, and commercialization of high-technology products utilizing digital fabrication methods, including laser machining and 3D printing. She is a co-founder of the commercial division of Potomac Photonics Inc. of Lanham, Maryland. In 2012, she founded Fab Lab Hub, part of the MIT-based Fab Lab Network, in order to foster entrepreneurship and workforce training in digital fabrication manufacturing skills. Boisvert is a fellow and past president of the Laser Institute of America and has served on the Optical Society's Industry Advisory Board.

Who should attend:
This one-hour webinar is essential for all manufacturing plant managers, production managers, HR department staff, as well as training specialists, economic development directors, and students. The hour will include ample time for Q&A, so bring your questions and concerns about training and staffing for the digital factory.
