SPIE Defense, Security & Sensing 2014

DSS 2014 SPIE DSS 2014 brings together some of the industry's most important scientific conferences and exhibitions on optics, IR imaging, lasers and sensing for defense, security, industry, healthcare and the environment.

Featuring two technical symposia and a 450-company exhibition, DSS offers the opportunity for efficient information exchange, business development, vendor and project networking, and professional development.

The Defense and Security Symposium focuses on the latest research in aviation and aerospace, laser technologies, cyber sensing and security, command/control/ communications/intelligence, system/ network integrator/VAR, IR imaging, communications and networking, and more.

The Sensing Technology and Applications Symposium will cover topics such as hyperspectral imaging, IR sensors and systems, imagery and pattern analysis, next-generation sensors and systems, fiber optic sensors, wireless sensing, terahertz devices and systems, and 3-D imaging and visualization.

A number of presentations and speakers are scheduled at the event, including Dr. Troy E. Meink (of the Air Force for Space and Executive Agent for Space Staff) who will discuss challenges in today's national security space capabilities. Dr. Ludger Overmeyer (head of the Institute of Transport and Automation Technology at Leibniz University) will discuss Planar Optronic Systems, involving the development of large-scale, polymer-based sensor foils with purely optical measurement principles.

Also slated to present will be William Ruh, vice president and corporate officer of GE Global Software, covering the emerging industrial Internet.

The exhibition portion of DSS will feature the latest in robotics and unmanned systems, chemical and biological sensing, IR detectors and systems, cameras and CCD components, optical components, high-speed imaging and sensing, and more.

SPIE DSS attracts leading scientists, researchers and engineers from the laser, sensing, optics and imaging industry, military, government agencies, and academia. More than 2,300 presenters are among the thousands of attendees.

Among courses and workshops to be offered are Infrared Optics Design Principles, IR Atmospheric Propagation for Sensor Systems, and Electro-Optical Imaging System Performance.
