In this month's Light Matters Extra, we introduce you to Drake Anthony, aka styropyro. Drake, 25, has been building his own lasers since he was 12 years old. He's got quite the following on his YouTube channel where he is known to build giant lasers out of scrap and broken electronics. Drake tells us how he got started in the business and how ESCO Optics is helping him continue to do what he loves. Combining his love for "blowing things up" and his love for science, he recently received his degree in Chemistry at Southern Illinois University.

Dr. Englund's group, the Quantum Photonics Group, is made up of postdocs and research scientists, and graduate and undergraduate students. The group studies silicon and diamond photonics, as well as 2D materials to create news ways of computing, communicating and measuring with quantum states.
