Photonics West Blends Industry, Innovation, Learning

It’s an annual must-attend event in the photonics industry, and one that for many, truly kicks off the new year. It’s Photonics West, and for more than two decades it has been a symbol of the optimism and excitement for the potential of photonics and light-based technologies.

Each year, researchers, academia and companies from around the world travel to San Francisco’s Moscone Center — this year from January 31 to February 2 — to discuss their work and research, present educational workshops and courses, and showcase innovative products and services.

Single Photon Counting Camera
From: PHOTONIS Technologies
PHOTONIS’ Imaging Photon Camera offers a unique set of capabilities to support fast imaging techniques under light-starved conditions: - Single photon counting with micrometer and picosecond resolutions - Wide field of view (18mm) - High counting rate (5MHz) Unlike digital sensor-based cameras, the Imaging Photon Camera has no read noise and easily supports fast wide-field TCSPC applications in extreme low light.

PreciseMode™ DBR Laser
From: Photodigm Inc.
Photodigm DBR lasers are available with internal beam correction and control of the thermal mode hops. A virtual microlens corrects astigmatism and reduces fast axis divergence, resulting in a user-friendly beam that can be focused/collimated as needed with a single aspherical lens. The device locks to a selected cavity mode in stable operation without hops over an extended range of current tuning. Available in a Mercury™ or TO-8 package.
