Media Cybernetics Inc. has released the 3D Surface
Inspector, an inspection module for Image-Pro Plus software. The module uses a Z-stack
of images, which enables users to visualize and measure biological images in 3-D.
The images can be rotated, and the surfaces can be viewed from any angle and enhanced
with texture mapping, wire frame or pseudo coloring. Lighting, contrast and shadows
also can be controlled. The module offers a number of measurement tools, including
the ability to measure the differences in Z height between X-Y positions as well
as maximum and minimum Z values, and for analyzing surface area and volume.
