Metal MirrorsOff-Axis Parabolic First Surface Metal Mirrors from Edmund Optics Inc. are used in broadband VIS and IR applications, with each mirror interferomically tested.

The mirrors feature a surface roughness down to 50Å RMS. They have no spherical aberrations and are free of chromatic aberrations over a broadband range because they are not wavelength dependent. Protected aluminum, protected gold, and bare gold coatings are used to cover the wavelength range from 400 to >12,000 nm. The protective dielectric overcoat layer prevents the coating from being damaged from the atmosphere or from cleaning, increasing the durability of the metal coating and providing protection from oxidation with little impact on the coating performance.

The mirrors are ideal for use in instrumentation and laser systems including Schlieren, MTF, FLIR and FTIR, as well as with IR lasers.
