Newport Corp. has introduced an attenuator design implemented for its Series 818 low-power photodetectors. Based on the same optics and clear aperture of the 918D series detectors, it features a clear aperture with the size reduced to 10 mm to help the user more accurately align the detector to the input optical beam. The new window helps avoid detector overfilling, while the clearly visible crosshair on the new housing assists coarse alignment of the beam. The high-quality, low-power photodetector and the detector housing design remain the same. The low-power (calibrated levels from picowatts to 2 W) 818 series photodetectors operate from 200 to 1800 nm and feature matching patented and removable OD3 attenuators for each detector.
