Hamamatsu Corp. has added red-sensitive detectors to its ultracompact micro photomultiplier tube (PMT) line, suitable for integration into portable or compact instruments in point-of-care testing, security applications and environmental monitoring.

The new products have a spectral response range from 300 to 850 nm, with high quantum efficiency values in the red and near-IR regions. They join the company’s existing UV/visible micro PMTs, which offer spectral sensitivity of 300 to 650 nm. All models feature a photosensitive area of 3 × 1 mm, low dark current, high gain and fast time response.

The H12400 series combines a micro PMT with a voltage divider circuit. The H12400-00-01 assembly is sensitive to 300- to 650-nm wavelengths, while the H12400-01-01 is sensitive to 300 to 850 nm.

The H12402 and H12403 modules feature a micro PMT with 300- to 650-nm-wavelength spectral response, while the H12402-01 and H12403-01 modules are sensitive from 300 to 850 nm. They can be operated with a voltage supply of 4.5 to 5.5 V.

Also available are modules that contain a voltage divider circuit and a high-voltage power supply circuit.
