LightPath Technologies Inc. has introduced a new line of molded glass aspheric lenses designed specifically for use in today’s high-performance laser tools and measurement systems.
Laser tools are a common method for generating guidelines and measuring distances or surface profiles. The tools include laser levels, laser pointers, line projectors, laser scanners and laser trackers.
The aspheric lenses provide a single lens solution to laser projection and a cost savings over spherical doublets and triplets, without sacrificing performance. A simple single lens mount replaces time-consuming and expensive mounting and alignment of doublets and triplets. The company says that aspheric lenses have higher transmission than multilens systems.
The available planoconvex lenses have numerical apertures ranging from 0.19 to 0.30, focal lengths from 4.5 to 14.0 mm, outer diameters from 3.00 to 6.325 mm and working distances from 3.5 to 12.6 mm. Most models have a 5.2-mm clear aperture. One model has a 2.7-mm and one a 3.7-mm clear aperture.
