A line of step-index, multimode, high-and low-OH optical fibers has been launched by Moritex U.S.A. Inc. The fibers comprise a synthetic fused-silica core, fluorine-doped synthetic fused-silica cladding and an epoxy acrylate buffer, and are available in core diameters from 50 to 600 µm. They offer UV-VIS-NIR transmission with mechanical strength, thermal resistance, low scattering losses and fluorescence, radiation- and laserdamage resistance, and a high core-to-clad ratio. The fibers also can be custom-packaged as bundles or as cables for a range of applications, .including remote sensing and spectroscopy, fluorescence excitation and microscopy, laser welding, Thomson scattering and particle detection.
