A pattern generator that features a clock rate of 225 MHz and looping capabilities has been introduced by Pulse Instruments. The CompactPCI PI-2005 can generate a range of simple and complex digital patterns for test applications that require a serial or parallel digital data stream. It expands to 64 output channels in 16-channel increments and provides 64K memory depth per channel and start/stop trigger inputs. The company says its phase-locked loop clock provides high-resolution timing for precision control of timing signals. PI-PAT software allows the user to view and define large segments of the data pattern. The small size of the generator makes it suitable for portable, bench- and rack-mount applications and for those where space is restricted.
